| cephamycin |
any of a family of naturally occurring antibacterial antibiotics derived from various species of Streptomyces or produced semisynthetically, which are resistant to degradation by β-lactamase. Semisynthetic cephamycins, derived from cephamycin C, are generally classed as second-generation cephalosporins, but have greater activity against anaerobic bacteria.
