| centrum of a vertebra | The ossification centre of the central mass of the body of a vertebra, body of vertebra (as distinct from the arches). (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| Vicq d'Azyr's centrum semiovale | The great mass of white matter composing the interior of the cerebral hemisphere; the name refers to the general shape of this white core in horizontal sections of the hemisphere. Synonym: centrum medullare, centrum ovale, medullary centre, semioval centre, Vicq d'Azyr's centrum semiovale, Vieussens' centrum. (05 Mar 2000) |

| centrum | Central portion. (09 Oct 1997) |
| centrum medianum | A large, lentil-shaped cell group, the largest and most caudal of the intralaminar nuclei, located within the lamina medullaris interna of the thalamus between the mediodorsal nucleus and ventrobasal nucleus; so called by Luys because of its prominent appearance on frontal sections midway between the anterior and posterior pole of the human thalamus. The nucleus receives numerous fibres from the internal segment of the globus pallidus by way of the thalamic fasciculus, ansa lenticularis, and lenticular fasciculus as well as projections from area 4 of the motor cortex; its major efferent connection is with the putamen although collaterals reach broad areas of the cerebral cortex. Synonym: nucleus centromedianus, centre median de Luys, centrum medianum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| centrum medullare | The great mass of white matter composing the interior of the cerebral hemisphere; the name refers to the general shape of this white core in horizontal sections of the hemisphere. Synonym: centrum medullare, centrum ovale, medullary centre, semioval centre, Vicq d'Azyr's centrum semiovale, Vieussens' centrum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| centrum ovale | The great mass of white matter composing the interior of the cerebral hemisphere; the name refers to the general shape of this white core in horizontal sections of the hemisphere. | centrum tendineum diaphragmatis | A three-lobed fibrous sheet occupying the centre of the diaphragm. Synonym: centrum tendineum diaphragmatis, trefoil tendon. Central tendon of perineum, the fibromuscular mass between the anal canal and the urogenital diaphragm in the median plane; midline episiotomies extend into this structure. Synonym: centrum tendineum perinei, perineal body, Savage's perineal body. (05 Mar 2000) |
| centrum tendineum perinei | central tendon of perineum |
| Willis' centrum nervosum | The largest and highest group of prevertebral sympathetic ganglia, located on the superior part of the abdominal aorta, on either side of the origin of the coeliac artery; contains sympathetic neurons whose unmyelinated postganglionic axons innervate the stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidney, small intestine, and ascending and transverse colon. H Synonym: ganglia coeliaca, semilunar ganglion, solar ganglia, Vieussens' ganglia, Willis' centrum nervosum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| basilar vertebra | The lowest lumbar vertebra. (05 Mar 2000) |
| block vertebra | <radiology> Congenital vertebral fusion, location: lumbar or cervical, height of the fused vertebral bodies equals the sum of heights of the involved bodies and intervertebral disc, waist at level of disc space see: cervical spine fusion (12 Dec 1998) |
