  • Calcaneus - »õâ The largest of the TARSAL BONES which is situated at the lower and back part of the FOOT, forming the HEEL.
    Synonyms : Bone, Heel
  • Calcifediol - »õâ The major circulating metabolite of vitamin D3 (CHOLECALCIFEROL). It is produced in the LIVER and is the best indicator of the body's vitamin D stores. It is effective in the treatment of RICKETS and OSTEOMALACIA, both in azotemic and non-azotemic patients. Calcifediol also has mineralizing properties.
Synonyms : 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3, Aventis Brand of Calcifediol, Calcidiol, Calcifediol, (3 alpha, 5Z, 7E)-Isomer, Calcifediol, (3 beta, 5E, 7E)-Isomer, Calderol, Dedrogyl, Faes Brand of Calcifediol, Hidroferol, Organon Brand of Calcifediol, 25 Hydroxycholecalciferol
  • Calcification, Physiologic - »õâ Process by which organic tissue becomes hardened by the physiologic deposit of calcium salts.
Synonyms : Calcification, Physiological, Physiologic Calcification, Mineralization, Bone, Physiological Calcification
  • Calcimycin - »õâ An ionophorous, polyether antibiotic from Streptomyces chartreusensis. It binds and transports cations across membranes and uncouples oxidative phosphorylation while inhibiting ATPase of rat liver mitochondria. The substance is used mostly as a biochemical tool to study the role of divalent cations in various biological systems.
    Synonyms : A-23187, A23187, Antibiotic A23187, A 23187, A23187, Antibiotic
  • Calcineurin - »õâ A calcium- and calmodulin-binding protein present in highest concentrations in the central nervous system. Calcineurin is composed of two subunits. A catalytic subunit, calcineurin A, and a regulatory subunit, calcineurin B, with molecular weights of about 60 kDa and 19 kDa, respectively. Calcineurin has been shown to dephosphorylate a number of phosphoproteins including histones, myosin light chain, and the regulatory subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinase. It is involved in the regulation of signal transduction and is the target of an important class of immunophilin-immunosuppressive drug complexes in T-lymphocytes that act by inhibiting T-cell activation.
    Synonyms : Protein Phosphatase 2B, 2B, Protein Phosphatase, A, Calcineurin, B, Calcineurin, Phosphatase 2B, Protein, Phosphatase-2B, Protein
