| 설명 | 외부자극에 의해서 변화하지 않는 지속적인 마음의 상태인 기분(mood)에 이상이 있는 정동장애의 한 종류. 정동장애의 대표적인 질환으로는 외부의 자극에 관계없이 기분이 우울한 우울증(depression)과 지속적으로 외부의 자극에 관계없이 지속적으로 기분이 들뜨는 조증(mania)이 있다. 우울증과 조증이 주기적으로 반복이 되는 정신질환과 조증만 있고 우울증은 없는 경우를 모두 포함하는 개념이다. |

| bipolar disease | A type of depressive disease, formerly called manic-depressive illness.
