||
||
| 영문 | lung cancer | 한글 | 폐암 |
|---|---|---|---|
||

| artificial heart | A mechanical pump used to replace the function of a damaged heart, either temporarily or as a permanent prosthesis. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| artificial heart valve | <cardiology> A synthetic or porcine (pigskin) valve surgically placed into the heart to replace a defective or malfunctioning valve. The aortic and mitral valves are the most frequently replaced with artificial valves. (27 Sep 1997) |
| heart, artificial | A pumping mechanism that duplicates the output, rate, and blood pressure of the natural heart. It may replace the function of the entire heart or a portion of it, and may be an intracorporeal, extracorporeal, or paracorporeal heart. (12 Dec 1998) |
| Jarvik artificial heart | A pneumatic artificial heart. (05 Mar 2000) |
| machine, heart-lung | A machine that does the work both of the heart (pump blood) and the lungs (oxygenate the blood). Used, for example, in open heart surgery. Blood returning to the heart is diverted through the machine before returning it to the arterial circulation. Also called a pump-oxygenator. (12 Dec 1998) |
| heart and lung transplant | A surgical procedure which replaces a diseased heart and lungs with a healthy heart and lungs from a donor. They have been used in patients with primary pulmonary hypertension and isolated severe heart and lung disease. They are not recommended for those with associated systemic disorders such as diabetes or autoimmune illness. Those with liver and/or kidney disease are also not candidates. Long-term outcomes are still being studied. (27 Sep 1997) |
| heart-lung machine | A combination blood pump and blood oxygenator used for temporary periods of time in cardiopulmonary bypass for cardiac surgery. (12 Dec 1998) |
| heart-lung transplantation | The simultaneous, or near simultaneous, transference of heart and lungs from one human or animal to another. (12 Dec 1998) |
