| arteriolae rectae | Straight vessels into which the efferent arteriole of the juxtamedullary glomeruli breaks up; they form a leash of vessels which, arising at the bases of the pyramids, run through the renal medulla toward the apex of each pyramid, then reverse direction in a hairpin turn, and run straight back again toward the base of the pyramid as venae rectae. Synonym: straight seminiferous tubule. Synonym: arteriolae rectae. (05 Mar 2000) |

| venae rectae | The ascending limbs of the vasa rectae in the renal medulla. (05 Mar 2000) |
| venulae rectae renis | Venules that drain the medullary pyramids of the kidney; they open into arcuate veins. Synonym: venulae rectae renis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami medullares laterales | The lateral medullary branches, branches of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery to the lateral part of the medulla oblongata. (05 Mar 2000) |
| rami medullares mediales | The medial medullary branches, branches of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery to the medial part of the medulla oblongata. (05 Mar 2000) |
| striae medullares ventriculi quarti | Slender fascicles of fibres extending transversally below the ependymal floor of the ventricle from the median sulcus to enter the inferior cerebellar peduncle. They arise from the arcuate nuclei on the ventral surface of the medullary pyramid. Synonym: striae medullares ventriculi quarti, acoustic striae, auditory striae, Bergmann's cords, medullary teniae, teniae acusticae. (05 Mar 2000) |
| laminae medullares cerebelli | Layers of white substance seen on section of the cerebellum. Synonym: laminae medullares cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| laminae medullares thalami | Layers of myelinated fibres that appear on transverse sections of the thalamus; the lamina medullaris externa marks the ventral and lateral borders of the thalamus and delimits it from the subthalamus and reticular nucleus of thalamus; the lamina medullaris interna is interposed between the mediodorsal and ventral nuclei of the thalamus and encloses the intralaminar nuclei (centromedian, paracentral, and central lateral nuclei). Synonym: laminae medullares thalami, medullary layers of thalamus. (05 Mar 2000) |
