any in a class of cyclic hepatotoxins found in Amanita phalloides and other mushrooms of the genera Amanita, as well as species of Chlorophyllum and Galerina; ingestion causes potentially fatal mushroom poisoning (see under poisoning). Called also Amanita toxin.
