CancerWEB ¿µ¿µ ÀÇÇлçÀü ¸ÂÃã °Ë»ö °á°ú : 1 ÆäÀÌÁö: 1
alternating current Electrical current which alternates direction periodically. (For instance, household electric current is AC alternating at 60 oscillations/sec (60 Hertz) in the United States, and 50 Hertz in many other countries.)
Acronym: AC
(09 Oct 1997)
CancerWEB ¿µ¿µ ÀÇÇлçÀü À¯»ç °Ë»ö °á°ú : 15 ÆäÀÌÁö: 1
alternating light test Test to detect a relative afferent defect in one eye by watching pupillary movements.
With the patient fixing in the distance, the light is held on each eye for about a second, and quickly moved to the other eye. Assuming no defect of the innervation to the iris sphincter in one eye (which would produce an anisocoria in light), the eye with the weaker light response has a relative afferent pupillary defect.
This asymmetry of pupillomotor input can be estimated by holding neutral density filters in front of the better eye until the pupillary responses of the two eyes are balanced.
Synonym: swinging light test.
(05 Mar 2000)
alternating mydriasis Mydriasis alternately affecting each eye.
(05 Mar 2000)
alternating pulse Mechanical alternation, a pulse regular in time but with alternate beats stronger and weaker, often detectable only with the sphygmomanometer and usually indicating serious myocardial disease.
Synonym: pulsus alternans.
(05 Mar 2000)
alternating strabismus A form of strabismus in which either eye fixes.
(05 Mar 2000)
alternating tremor A form of hyperkinesia characterised by regular, symmetrical, to-and-fro movements (at about 4 per second) that are produced by patterned, alternating contraction of muscles and their antagonists.
(05 Mar 2000)
action current An electrical current induced in muscle fibres when they are effectively stimulated; normally it is followed by contraction.
(05 Mar 2000)
anodal current A current produced in tissues under the anode when the circuit is closed.
(05 Mar 2000)
ascending current The direction of current flow in a nerve when the anode is placed peripheral to the cathode, in contrast to descending current; the convention used is that current flows from positive to negative.
Synonym: centripetal current.
(05 Mar 2000)
axial current The central rapidly moving portion of the bloodstream in an artery.
(05 Mar 2000)
bootstrap current <radiobiology> Currents driven in toroidal devices by neo-classical diffusion. They may amount to a substantial fraction of the net current in a tokamak reactor, thus lengthening the pulse time or decreasing the power needed for current drive.
(09 Oct 1997)
calcium current Inflow of calcium ions through specific calcium channels. Critically important in release of transmitter substance from presynaptic terminals.
(18 Nov 1997)
galvanic current See: direct current, galvanism.
(05 Mar 2000)
radio frequency current drive <radiobiology> Plasma waves in the radio-frequency range can be used to push plasma particles in such a way that current forms in the plasma, this is a method of non-inductive current drive which would allow for steady-state fusion reactors to operate.
(09 Oct 1997)
gating current <physiology> Small currents in the membrane just prior to the increase in ionic permeability, due to the movement of charged particles within the membrane.
So called because they open the gates for current flow through ion channels.
(20 Mar 1998)
M current <physiology> Flow of potassium ions through M channels.
(26 Mar 1998)

alternating current an electric current that reverses direction sinusoidally; "In the US most household current is AC at 60 cycles per second"
Ãâó: wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
alternating current (AC); Electrical current that changes (or alternates) in magnitude and direction of the current at regular intervals.
Ãâó: www.angelfire.com/pa/baconbacon/page4.html
alternating current An electric current that reverses its direction periodically.
Ãâó: www.peakagents.ca/glossary/a5.htm
alternating current A type of electrical current in which the direction of the flow of electrons switches back and forth. In the US, the current that comes from a wall outlet is alternating; it cycles back and forth sixty times each second. The current that flows in a flashlight, on the other hand, is direct current (DC), which does not alternate.
Ãâó: www.pbs.org/transistor/glossary.html
alternating current Either voltage or current that varies smoothly from zero to a maximum value in one direction, or polarity, and returns to zero. It then reverses its direction (polarity) and rises to a maximum value in the opposite direction, and then returns to zero to complete the cycle. This cycle is repeated continuously. The number of cycles per second is its frequency, measured in hertz (Hz). See SINE WAVE.
