  • alpha 1-Antichymotrypsin - »õâ Glycoprotein found in alpha(1)-globulin region in human serum. It inhibits chymotrypsin-like proteinases in vivo and has cytotoxic killer-cell activity in vitro. The protein also has a role as an acute-phase protein and is active in the control of immunologic and inflammatory processes, and as a tumor marker. It is a member of the serpin superfamily.
    Synonyms : Glycoprotein gp68, alpha(1)-Antichymotrypsin, 1-Antichymotrypsin, alpha, alpha 1 Antichymotrypsin
  • alpha 1-Antitrypsin - »õâ Plasma glycoprotein member of the serpin superfamily which inhibits TRYPSIN; NEUTROPHIL ELASTASE; and other PROTEOLYTIC ENZYMES. Commonly referred to as alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor (A1PI), it exists in over 30 different biochemical variant forms known collectively as the Pi (protease inhibitor) system. Hereditary A1PI deficiency is associated with PULMONARY EMPHYSEMA.
    Synonyms : A1PI, Prolastin, Zemaira, alpha 1 Antiprotease, alpha 1-Antiproteinase, alpha 1-Proteinase Inhibitor F, alpha 1-Proteinase Inhibitor S, 1-Antiproteinase, alpha, Antiprotease, alpha 1, Inhibitor, alpha 1-Protease, Inhibitor, alpha 1-Proteinase, alpha 1 Antitrypsin
  • alpha 1-Antitrypsin Deficiency - »õâ Deficiency of the protease inhibitor ALPHA 1-ANTITRYPSIN, leading primarily to degradation of elastin of the alveolar walls, as well as other structural proteins of a variety of tissues. (From Scriver, Beaudet, Sly, & Valle, The Metabolic and Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease, 7th ed, p4125)
Synonyms : Deficiencies, alpha 1-Antitrypsin, Deficiency, alpha 1-Antitrypsin, alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, alpha 1-Antitrypsin Deficiencies
  • alpha Catenin - »õâ A catenin that binds F-ACTIN and links the CYTOSKELETON with BETA CATENIN and GAMMA CATENIN.
Synonyms : CAP102 Protein, Cadherin-Associated Protein 102 kDa, alpha E-Catenin, alpha-1 Catenin, alpha-Catenin, alpha-Catulin, alphaE Catenin, Cadherin Associated Protein 102 kDa, Catenin, alpha, Catenin, alpha-1, Catenin, alphaE, E-Catenin, alpha, alpha 1 Catenin
  • alpha Karyopherins - »õâ Nucleocytoplasmic transport molecules that bind to the NUCLEAR LOCALIZATION SIGNALS of cytoplasmic molecules destined to be imported into the CELL NUCLEUS. Once attached to their cargo they bind to BETA KARYOPHERINS and are transported through the NUCLEAR PORE COMPLEX. Inside the CELL NUCLEUS alpha karyopherins dissociate from beta karypherins and their cargo. They then form a complex with CELLULAR APOPTOSIS SUSCEPTIBILITY PROTEIN and RAN GTP-BINDING PROTEIN which is exported to the CYTOPLASM.
Synonyms : Importin-alpha, Karyopherin alpha, NLS Receptor, NLS-Binding Protein, NLSBP, Nuclear Localization Sequence Receptor, Nuclear Localization Signal-Binding Protein, Karyopherins, alpha, receptor, NLS
