| 설명 | 뇌의 염증성 질환. 뇌실질 뿐 아니라 뇌막-척수, 때로는 말초신경에도 일어날 수 있다. 바이러스성 뇌염과 출혈성 뇌염으로 크게 나눈다. 전자는 바이러스 감염에 의한 진성뇌염으로 대부분의 뇌염이 이에 포함되고 종류도 많다. ① 바이러스 감염에 의해 유행성으로 발생하는 것으로 일본뇌염-졸음뇌염 등이 이에 포함된다. ② 홍역이나 유행성 볼거리염에 걸렸을 때 병원바이러스가 환자의 뇌를 침범한 것 등이 이에 포함된다. ③ 종두접종 후 뇌염처럼 감염후에 발생되는 뇌염 등이 있다. |

| 설명 | 넓은 뜻으로는 I형, II형, III형 및 IV형의 알레르기 반응에 의해서 생기는 모든 병을 가리킨다. 그러나 보통 알레르기병이라고 하면 좁은 뜻을 가리키는 경우가 많고, I형의 알레르기반응에 의해서 생기는 것을 가리킨다. 즉 아토피병과 마찬가지 뜻으로 해석되는 경우가 많고, 기관지천식, 알레르기코염, 알레르기점막염, 두드러기, 아나필락시스 등이 여기에 속한다. |

| experimental allergic encephalitis | <pathology> An autoimmune disease that can be induced in various experimental animals by the injection of homogenised brain or spinal cord in Freund's adjuvant. The antigen appears to be a basic protein present in myelin and the response is characterised by focal areas of lymphocyte and macrophage infiltration into the brain, associated with demyelination and destruction of the blood-brain barrier. Sometimes used as a model for demyelinating diseases, although whether this is entirely justifiable is not clear. (18 Nov 1997) |

| allergic angiitis | An acute form of vasculitis which may affect the skin only, but also may involve other organs, with a polymorphonuclear infiltrate in the walls of and surrounding small (dermal) vessels. | allergic asthma | <chest medicine> A disease process that is characterised by paradoxical narrowing of the bronchi (lung passageways) making breathing difficult. Treatment includes bronchodilators which are given orally or delivered as an aerosol (inhaled). Corticosteroids are reserved for more difficult cases. Symptoms include wheezing, difficulty breathing (particularly exhaling air) and tightness in the chest. Factors which can exacerbate asthma include rapid changes in temperature or humidity, allergies, upper respiratory infections, exercise, stress or smoke (cigarette). See: status asthmaticus.
