a genus of coccidian protozoa (suborder Eimeriina, order Eucoccidiida), characterized by the presence of oocysts containing eight naked sporozoites. T. pernicio´sa is highly pathogenic for domestic ducklings, being parasitic in the small intestine, especially in the upper half.
