tpa Tissue plasminogen activator or TPA is thrombolytic agent used to dissolve blood clots. TPA is introduced into a vein (intravenous) or directly into a blocked artery. Because TPA is produced using recombinant DNA technology, it tends to be more expensive than urokinase or streptokinase.

TPHA test A highly sensitive and specific test for the serologic diagnosis of syphilis; tanned sheep red blood cells are coated with the antigen of Treponema pallidum and, following absorption of non-specific patient serum antibody, a positive reaction with tanned sheep red blood cells and patient serum indicates the presence of specific antibody for Treponema pallidum in patient serum.
