th1 cells Subset of helper-inducer T-lymphocytes which synthesise and secrete interleukin-2, gamma-interferon, and interleukin-12. Due to their ability to kill antigen-presenting cells and their lymphokine-mediated effector activity, th1 cells are associated with vigorous delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions.

th1 response <immunology> An acquired immune response whose most prominent feature is high cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity relative to the amount of antibody production. The Th1 response is promoted by CD4+ Th1 T-helper cells.
See: Th2 Response.

th2 cells Subset of helper-inducer T-lymphocytes which synthesise and secrete the interleukins il-4, il-5, il-6, and il-10. These cytokines influence B-cell development and antibody production as well as augmenting humoral responses.
