| Snellen's chart |
A chart used for testing central visual acuity, consisting of lines of letters, numbers or symbols in graded sizes drawn to Snellen's measurements. Each size is labeled with the distance at which it can be read by the normal eye. It is most often used for testing vision at a distance of 20 feet, but charts may be drawn for testing at reading distance (14 inches) or intermediate distances.
