A review of surgical procedures recommended or not recommended by a physician for treatment of a medical condition of a patient. Many Managed Care Plans have second opinion programs. These programs may be mandatory or voluntary. Some Managed Care Plans have created a list of procedures for which they require a second opinion; others have established criteria which indicate that a second opinion is appropriate.
