| phosphatidylcholinesterol O |
[EC 2.3.1.43] an enzyme of the transferase class, secreted by the liver, that catalyzes the formation of cholesteryl esters in high-density lipoproteins by transferring long-chain fatty acid residues from phosphatidylcholine to a sterol. The reaction is a step in the synthesis of lipoproteins. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, is called lecithincholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) deficiency. Called also lecithincholesterol acyltransferase.
