Roman physician and medical writer, 325–403 A.D., physician to the Emperor Julian. His magnum opus was an encyclopedia of medicine in seventy volumes, of which only one third survive; these are invaluable for they contain extracts from the works of many important physicians of antiquity (e.g., Dioscorides, Galen, Antyllus).
