Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), GERD and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate is marketed by AstraZeneca under the tradename Nexium®.
