Mortierellaceae a family of fungi of the order Mucorales, having a rudimentary or absent columella and occurring mainly as a soil saprophyte; it includes one pathogenic genus, Mortierella.

Mortierella species A rapidly-growing fungus that produces a white or colored colony within five days, when incubated at 25oC (77oF). It is found worldwide and can be isolated from soil, salt marshes, dunes, caves, fresh water, decaying wood and plants. There have not been any reports of human infections.
