Antonio Caetano de Abreu Friere Egas, 1874–1955. Portuguese neurosurgeon and diplomat; co-winner, with Walter R. Hess, of the Nobel prize for medicine or physiology in 1949 for his development of cerebral angiography and the introduction of prefrontal lobotomy as a therapy for certain psychoses.
