| 설명 | 눈속의 장기중 하나에 해당. 각막을 통과한 빛은 수정체를 통과하여 망막에 상이 맺히게 되고, 망막은 이 들어온 빛을 자극을 신경세포가 알 수 있는 신호체계로 바꾸어 뇌에 전달해 주게 된다. 각막과 수정체의 중요한 역할은 굴절력을 증가시키는 것이다. 그리하여 올바로 상이 망막에 맺힐 수 있도록 도와주게 된다.  |

| 설명 | 입속의 천장을 구성하며 동시에 콧구멍의 바닥을 이루는 구조물을 입천장이라 한다. 입천장은 크게 2가지로 나뉘어져 앞쪽의 뼈로 이루어진 부분을 단단입천장(hard palate)라 하고, 뒷부분의 근육성 주름을 물렁입천장(soft palate)라 한다. 주된 구조물은 건막과 근육 그리고 림프 조직이며 한가운데에는 목젖(uvula)이라고 하는 돌기가 존재한다. 목젖의 옆으로는 두개의 주름 즉 입천장혀활(palatoglossal arch)과 입천장인두궁(palatopharyngeal arch)이 존재하며 이 두 주름사이에 입천장편도(palatine tonsil)가 있다. 연구개의 기능은 음식을 삼킬 때 그 뒷끝이 인두의 뒷벽에 닿음으로써 음식물이 코로 역류하지 못하게 한다. |
