MDI Medium-Dependent Interface (network, ethernet) The mechanical and electrical interface between the trunk cable medium and the MAU. It is used mostly to caracterize a type of Ethernet twisted pair port connection: MDI ports connect to MDIX (cross-over) ports using straight-through twisted pair cabling. See also MDI-X.
