| 영문 | adenoma | 한글 | 샘종 |
|---|---|---|---|

| Leydig cell adenoma | <tumour> A small benign tumours of the testis that often produce testosterone, causing endocrine symptoms. Synonym: interstitial cell tumour of testis. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|
| sertoli-leydig cell tumour | An ovarian tumour usually of low-grade malignancy occurring most frequently in the third and fourth decades, with 75% seen in women under 40. It is rare, representing less than .02% of ovarian cancers. The tumour typically produces androgens with virilization being noted in 70-85% of the patients. (holland et al., cancer medicine, 3d ed, p1684) (12 Dec 1998) |
|---|---|
| Leydig cell | Interstitial cells of the mammalian testis, involved in synthesis of testosterone. (18 Nov 1997) |
| leydig cell tumour | The most common nongerminal tumour of the testis, derived from the leydig cells. It is rarely malignant. This tumour appears among 1-3% of testicular tumours and although they may be seen in children, the median age of appearance is 60 years. They are sometimes seen in women as ovarian tumours. Clinically, symptoms are usually related to the endocrine abnormalities induced by this tumour. (12 Dec 1998) |
| Leydig | Franz von, German anatomist, 1821-1908. See: Leydig's cells, Leydig cell adenoma. (05 Mar 2000) |
| leydig cells | Cells in the interstitial tissue of the testis that are believed to furnish the internal secretion of that gland. (12 Dec 1998) |
| Leydig, Franz von | <person> In 1855 was appointed Professor of Histology in Wurzburg and later in Tubingen and Bonn. Was the founder of Comparative Histology. Leydig's Cells - interstitial cells of the testis. Lived: 1821-1908. B. Rothenburg, May 21st, 1821, d. Apr 13th, 1908. (05 Dec 1998) |

| adenoma, islet cell | A benign tumour of the islets of langerhans that may occur anywhere throughout the pancreas. Such tumours may result in hyperinsulinism or zollinger-ellison syndrome. (12 Dec 1998) |
| adenoma, liver cell | A benign epithelial tumour of the liver. (12 Dec 1998) |
| basal cell adenoma | <tumour> A benign tumour of major or minor salivary glands or other organs composed of small cells showing peripheral palisading. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Hurthle cell adenoma | <tumour> An uncommon type of thyroid tumour characterised by abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm containing numerous mitochondria. Often malignant with widespread metastases; rarely takes up radioiodine. See: Hurthle cell tumour. (05 Mar 2000) |
| null-cell adenoma | <tumour> An adenoma of the hypophysis composed of cells for which there is no overt evidence or hormone production, but which usually produces hypopituitarism and visual disturbances by compression of adjacent structures; approximately one third of these tumours have cells with abundant mitochondria (oncocytes) that are somewhat larger than the monocytic null cells. Synonym: undifferentiated cell adenoma. (05 Mar 2000) |
| islet cell adenoma | <tumour> A benign neoplasm of the pancreas composed of tissue similar in structure to that of the islets of Langerhans; it may contain functioning beta cells, and may cause hypoglycaemia. See: insulinoma. Synonym: nesidioblastoma. (05 Mar 2000) |
| undifferentiated cell adenoma | <tumour> An adenoma of the hypophysis composed of cells for which there is no overt evidence or hormone production, but which usually produces hypopituitarism and visual disturbances by compression of adjacent structures; approximately one third of these tumours have cells with abundant mitochondria (oncocytes) that are somewhat larger than the monocytic null cells. Synonym: undifferentiated cell adenoma. (05 Mar 2000) |
| acidophil adenoma | <endocrinology, oncology, tumour> A benign tumour, usually found in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland, whose cells stain with acid dyes. Such pituitary tumours may give rise to excessive secretion of growth hormone, resulting in gigantism or acromegaly. A specific type of acidophil adenoma may give rise to nonpuerperal galactorrhoea.
