| letrozole |
A nonsteroidal inhibitor of the enzyme aromatase, which is important in the conversion of androgen to estrogen in the peripheral tissues of postmenopausal women. Because hormone-dependent breast cancer progresses with estrogen, letrozole has been used in the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. (See Aromatase inhibitors)
