langer-giedion syndrome <syndrome> Autosomal dominant disorder characterised by cone-shaped epiphyses in the hands and multiple cartilaginous exostoses. Mental retardation and abnormalities of chromosome 8 are often present. The exostoses in this syndrome appear identical to those of hereditary multiple exostoses (exostoses, hereditary multiple).

Langer's lines Lines which can be extrapolated by connecting linear openings made when a round pin is driven into the skin of a cadaver, resulting from the principal axis of orientation of the subcutaneous connective tissue (collagen) fibres of the dermis; they vary in direction with the region of the body surface.
