| 설명 | 눈물을 만드는 곳이다. 눈물은 눈의 건조를 막고 이물질을 씻어내리는 역할을 한다. 눈물은 대개 눈물샘에서 만들어져 눈을 적신 뒤 눈물관을 거친뒤에 눈물주머니에 모여서 코눈물관으로 흘러 코 안쪽으로 내려가게 된다. |

| 설명 | 갑상샘속에 존재하는 조그만 호르몬 생성기관. 갑상샘속에 숨어 있으므로 눈에 잘 띄지 않는다. 그래서 흔히 갑상샘절제수술시에 같이 절제되어 부갑상샘호르몬감소가 나타나기도 한다. 부갑상샘호르몬을 생성한다. 이 호르몬은 뼈에서 혈액으로 칼슘(calcium)의 이동을 증가시키고, 위장관에서 칼슘의 흡수를 촉진시키며, 콩팥에서의 칼슘분비를 감소시키는 반면에 인산염(phosphate)의 분비를 촉진시켜, 결국은 혈중칼슘의 농도를 증가시키고 혈중인산염의 농도를 감소시킨다. 또한 이 호르몬은 비타민 D의 전환을 증가시킨다. 너무 지나친 부갑상샘호르몬의 분비가 있을 경우 골다공증(osteoporosis: 뼈에 구멍이 생기는 병적상태)과 다른 조직의 석회화를 볼 수 있다.  |

| Krause's respiratory bundle | A slender, compact fibre bundle extending longitudinally through the dorsolateral region of the medullary tegmentum, surrounded by the nucleus of the solitary tract, below the obex decussating over the central canal, and descending over some distance into the upper cervical segments of the spinal cord. It is composed of primary sensory fibres that enter with the vagus, glossopharyngeal, and facial nerves, and in part convey information from stretch receptors and chemoreceptors in the walls of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and intestinal tracts; in rostral parts of the tract impulses are generated by the receptor cells of the taste buds in the mucosa of the tongue. Its fibres are distributed to the nucleus of the solitary tract. | accessory lacrimal glands | Small, compound, branched, tubular glands located in the middle part of the lid (Wolfring's glands, 1872, or Ciaccio's glands, 1874) and along the superior and inferior fornices of the conjunctival sac (Krause's glands, 1854). These accessory glands are just scattered scraps of lacrimal gland tissue; all of them produce the same kind of tears and debouch on to the conjunctival surface.
