Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is a kind of sarcoma caused by a herpesvirus infection in which cancerous cells, as well as abnormal growth of blood vessels, form solid lesions in connective tissue. This cancer is associated with HIV disease, seen in advanced stages of the disease. It looks like dark purple spots, which are hard under the skin. Kaposi Sarcoma does not always need to be treated, but sometimes requires strong chemotherapy if it is in the lungs or elsewhere in the body.
