| 설명 | 그람양성 알균중 대표적인 것으로서 배양시 포도송이 모양의 덩어리를 형성하는 것이 특징적. 포도알균속의 대표적인 균으로서는 S. aureus, S. epidermidis, S. saprophyticus가 있음. 배양 특성은 산소가 존재하는 환경에서 빨리 자라며 카탈라제(catalase)를 생성하는 것이 사실상구균과의 차이점이며 탄수화물을 발효시켜 락트산을 생성하나 가스는 생성하지 않음. 특히 S. aureus는 코아귤라제(coagulase)를 생성하는 것이 차이점. 항원 구조 |

| Staphylococcus | <bacteria> Genus of nonmotile gram-positive bacteria that are found in clusters and that produce important exotoxins. Staphylococcus aureus (Staphylococcus pyogenes) is pyogenic, an opportunistic pathogen and responsible for a range of infections including severe sepsis, pneumonia, endocarditis and soft tissue infections.
