Heterophyes heterophyes A species of intestinal fluke commonly infesting humans. In heavy infestations, it may cause diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.

Heterophyes a genus of minute trematodes of the family Heterophyidae, found in the middle third of the small intestine of humans, dogs, cats, and other fish-eating mammals. H. hetero´phyes is found in Egypt, Asia, and Turkey. H. katsura´dai and H. brevicae´ca have been reported in humans in Japan and the Philippines.
