Habronema a genus of nematodes of the family Habronematidae. The larval forms are taken up from the feces of horses by flies and the flies, swallowed along with the feed, transmit the larvae to the horses' stomachs. The larvae may also be transmitted to the skin of horses where they produce cutaneous habronemiasis; in the conjunctiva they produce bungeye. The two most important species are H. microsto´ma (called also H. ma´jus) and H. mus´cae. H. megasto´ma has been reclassified as Draschia megastoma.
