a subclass of free-living ameboid protozoa (class Lobosea, superclass Rhizopoda, subphylum Sarcodina), the organisms of which are “naked”; i.e., they lack a test. It comprises three orders: Amoebida, Schizopyrenida, and Pelobiontida.
