  • GABA Agents - »õâ Substances used for their pharmacological actions on GABAergic systems. GABAergic agents include agonists, antagonists, degradation or uptake inhibitors, depleters, precursors, and modulators of receptor function.
Synonyms : GABAergic Agent, GABAergic Agents, Acid Agents, gamma-Aminobutyric, Agent, GABAergic, Agents, GABA, Agents, GABAergic, Agents, gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, gamma Aminobutyric Acid Agents
  • GABA Agonists - »õâ Drugs that bind to and activate GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID receptors (RECEPTORS, GABA).
Synonyms : GABA Agonist, GABA Receptor Agonist, GABA Receptor Agonists, gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Agonist, Acid Agonist, gamma-Aminobutyric, Acid Agonists, gamma-Aminobutyric, Agonist, GABA, Agonist, GABA Receptor, Agonist, gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, Agonists, GABA
  • GABA Antagonists - »õâ Drugs that bind to but do not activate GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID receptors, thereby blocking the actions of endogenous GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID or GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID agonists.
Synonyms : GABA Antagonist, GABA Receptor Antagonists, Acid Antagonists, gamma-Aminobutyric, Antagonist, GABA, Antagonists, GABA, Antagonists, GABA Receptor, Antagonists, gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, Receptor Antagonists, GABA, gamma Aminobutyric Acid Antagonists
  • GABA Modulators - »õâ Substances that do not act as agonists or antagonists but do affect the GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID receptor-ionophore complex. GABA-A receptors (RECEPTORS, GABA-A) appear to have at least three allosteric sites at which modulators act: a site at which BENZODIAZEPINES act by increasing the opening frequency of GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID-activated chloride channels; a site at which BARBITURATES act to prolong the duration of channel opening; and a site at which some steroids may act. GENERAL ANESTHETICS probably act at least partly by potentiating GABAergic responses, but they are not included here.
Synonyms : GABAergic Modulators, Acid Modulators, gamma-Aminobutyric, Modulators, GABA, Modulators, GABAergic, Modulators, gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, gamma Aminobutyric Acid Modulators
  • GABA Plasma Membrane Transport Proteins - »õâ A family of plasma membrane neurotransmitter transporter proteins that regulates that extracellular levels of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID. They differ from GABA RECEPTORS, which signal cellular responses to GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID. They control GABA reuptake into PRESYNAPTIC TERMINALS in the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM through high-affinity sodium-dependent transport.
Synonyms : GABA Plasma Membrane Transporter Proteins, GABA Transporter 1, GABA Transporter 2, GABA Transporter 3, GABA Transporter 4, GABA Transporters, GAT-1 Transporter, GAT-2 Transporter, GAT-3 Transporter, GAT-4 Transporter, GAT1 Transporter, GAT2 Transporter
