an acute gangrenous type of necrotizing fasciitis of the scrotum, penis, or perineum involving gram-positive organisms, enteric bacilli, or anaerobes; it may occur following local trauma, operative procedures, an underlying urinary tract disease, or a distant acute inflammatory process. Called also Fournier's disease.
