| 설명 | 신체에 지방이 과잉으로 축적되어 골격상 및 육체상 요구의 한계 이상으로 체중이 증가된 상태이다. 그러나 체지방의 측정은 쉽지 않기 때문에 수분류나 근육증가의 경우를 빼고, 일반적으로는 체중증가와 동의어로 생각되어 표준체중(이상체중)을 10~20% 넘는 경우를 비만이라 정의한다. 흡수 칼로리가 소비 칼로리를 넘을 때는 그 차를 중성지방으로 해서 지방세포에 축적되어지는 결과 체지방이 증가한다. 쿠싱증후군, 시상하부손상 등에도 비만이 나타난다. 비만, 특히 복부 비만은 여러 질환, 특히 성인병이라고 하는 질환의 발생과 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 비만도의 평가에는 체중을 측정하는 방법, 피부주름두께 측정법(캘리퍼를 사용)이 있다. 비만도 지수를 평가하는 임상적인 방법에는 이상체중법(modified Broca's method)으로 가장 쉽게 사용하는 방법이며 [신장(cm)－100]×0.9를 이상체중으로 계산하여 현재체중을 백분율화시킨 방법이다. 비만도 = (실측체중－표준체중)/표준체중×100%로 계산한다. 비만의 원인으로는 유전적 요인, 환경적 요인, 에너지 대사의 이상 등이 있다. 비만의 종류에는 원인에 따라서, 단순 비만과 증후성 비만으로 분류할 수 있다. 단순 비만은 과식과 운동 부족이 그 원인이며, 증후성 비만은 내분비, 시상하부성, 유전 및 대사성 등으로 발생한다. |
