a genus of blister beetles (family Meloidae) that secrete cantharidin and can cause cantharidin poisoning in ruminants. E. pennsylva´nica and E. vitta´ta are found in the eastern United States, E. cine´rea in the southwestern United States, and E. tormento´sa and E. sapphiri´na in Africa.
