a genus of fungi of the family Saccharomycetaceae. D. hanse´nii (formerly called Saccharomyces hansenii) changes sugars into oxalic acid and has occasionally been isolated from human infections. D. ho´minis and D. neofor´mans are former names for Cryptococcus neoformans.
