DBI Decibels isotropic, a relative gain measurement with respect to an isotropic radiator in free space (uniform emitter in free space, a theoretical situation). Normally used to describe gain for antennas operating at 1GHz or above.

DBI The relative gain of an antenna with respect to an equivalent isotropic antenna, expressed on the decibel logarithmic scale.

DBI A ratio, measured in decibels, of the effective gain of an antenna compared to an isotropic antenna. The greater the dBi value, the higher the gain and, as such, the more acute the angle of coverage.

DBI Data Base Initiative. A cost accounting and performance tracking system established by the Oregon Department of Education, for the purpose of tracking expenditures against performance.

DBI Gain in decibels referenced to an isotropic radiator. An isotropic radiator is a theoretical antenna with equal gain to all points on isotropic sphere. 2.15 dBi = 0 dBd
