CD21 or C3d receptor; a single-chain membrane glycoprotein present on B lymphocytes, follicular dendritic cells, and certain epithelial cells; it is specific for complement fragments iC3b and C3dg, produced by cleavage of bound C3b by factor I and is involved in B lymphocyte activation. CR2 is the Epstein-Barr virus receptor and also binds interferon-α.
