(1857-1933) German Communist leader and feminist. Daughter of village school teacher. Joined Social Democrat party, founded party's newspaper for women, 'Die Gleichheit' [Equality?], editing it from 1892-1917. Helped organise German Communist Party in 1919. Served as Communist deputy to the Reichstag 1920-32.
