  • C-Peptide - »õâ The middle segment of proinsulin that is between the N-terminal B-chain and the C-terminal A-chain. It is a pancreatic peptide of about 31 residues, depending on the species. Upon proteolytic cleavage of proinsulin, equimolar INSULIN and C-peptide are released. C-peptide immunoassay has been used to assess pancreatic beta cell function in diabetic patients with circulating insulin antibodies or exogenous insulin. Half-life of C-peptide is 30 min, almost 8 times that of insulin.
Synonyms : C-Peptide, Proinsulin, Connecting Peptide, C Peptide, C Peptide, Proinsulin, Proinsulin C Peptide
  • C-Reactive Protein - »õâ A plasma protein that circulates in increased amounts during inflammation and after tissue damage.
    Synonyms : C Reactive Protein, Protein, C-Reactive
  • Ca(2+) Mg(2+)-ATPase - »õâ An enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP and is activated by millimolar concentrations of either Ca(2+) or Mg(2+). Unlike CA(2+)-TRANSPORTING ATPASE it does not require the second divalent cation for its activity, and is not sensitive to orthovanadate. (Prog Biophys Mol Biol 1988;52(1):1). A subgroup of EC 3.6.1.3.
Synonyms : Adenosine Triphosphatase, Calcium, Magnesium, Adenosine Triphosphatase, Magnesium, Ca Mg-ATPase, Ca2+-Mg2+ ATPase, Calcium Magnesium Adenosine Triphosphatase, Mg2+-ATPase, Mg2+-Dependent ATPase, ATPase, Ca2+-Mg2+, ATPase, Mg2+-Dependent, Ca Mg ATPase
  • Ca(2+)-Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase - »õâ A calmodulin-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of proteins. This enzyme is also sometimes dependent on calcium. A wide range of proteins can act as acceptor, including vimentin, synapsin, glycogen synthase, myosin light chains, and the microtubule-associated proteins. (From Enzyme Nomenclature, 1992, p277)
Synonyms : Calmodulin-Kinase, Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinases, Calmodulin Kinase, Kinases, Calmodulin-Dependent Protein, Protein Kinases, Calmodulin-Dependent
  • CA-125 Antigen - »õâ Carbohydrate antigen most commonly seen in tumors of the ovary and occasionally seen in breast, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract tumors and normal tissue. CA 125 is clearly tumor-associated but not tumor-specific.
Synonyms : CA 125 Antigen, Antigen CA 125, Antigen, CA 125, Antigen, CA-125
