Bunyaviridae <molecular biology, virology> A family of arboviruses composed of more than 200 viruses, including the genera: Bunyavirus, Hantavirus, Phlebovirus, Nairovirus, Uukuvirus. These single-stranded RNA enveloped viruses are spherical or oval and measure 90-100nm in diameter and are all sensitive to lipid solvents and detergents.
They infect vertebrates and arthropods and some genera contain organisms causing serious disease for example viral haemorrhagic fever.
