| 설명 | 탄소와 물분자로 이루어진 유기화합물. 삼대영양소 가운데 하나로, 녹색식물의 광합성으로 생긴다. 포도당, 과당, 녹말 따위가 있다. 일반적으로 탄소-수소-산소의 세 원소로 이루어지는 화합물로, 넓은 뜻으로는 당류-당질과 같은 뜻으로 쓰인다. 일반식(Cn(H2O)n이 마치 탄소와 물분자(H2O)로 이루어져 있는 것처럼 보이기 때문에 이런 이름이 붙었다. 그리고 산소 원자수가 일반식보다 하나 적은 것, 질소원자를 함유하는 것, 황화합물을 함유하는 것도 탄수화물에 포함시킨다. 화학적으로는 다가 알코올의 알데히드 또는 케톤 및 그 유도체의 총칭이다. |
