| adenosine 5'-triphosphate | Adenosinepyrophosphate;adenosine with triphosphoric acid esterfied at its 5' position; immediate precursors of adenine nucleotides in RNA. The primary energy currency of a cell. Synonym: adenosine triphosphate. Acronym: ATP (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| adenosine triphosphate | <biochemistry> A nucleotide present in all living cells which serves as an energy source for many metabolic processes and is required for ribonucleic acid synthesis. (06 May 1997) |
| arabinofuranosylcytosine triphosphate | <chemical> A triphosphate nucleotide analog which is the biologically active form of cytarabine. It inhibits nuclear DNA synthesis. Pharmacological action: nucleic acid synthesis inhibitors. Chemical name: 2(1H)-Pyrimidinone, 4-amino-1-(5-O-(hydroxy((hydroxy(phosphonooxy)phosphinyl)oxy)phosphinyl)-beta-D-arabinofuranosyl)- (12 Dec 1998) |

| guanosine 5'-triphosphate | An immediate precursor of guanine nucleotides in RNA; similar to ATP; has a crucial role in microtubule formation. GTP cyclohydrolase, an enzyme that catalyses the reaction of GTP and H2O forming formate and a precursor of tetrahydrobiopterin; a deficiency of this enzyme will result in one form of malignant hyperphenylalaninaemia. Acronym: GTP (05 Mar 2000) |
| guanosine-5'-triphosphate, 3'-diphosphate pyrophosphatase | <enzyme> Catalyses the hydrolysis of guanosine 5'-triphosphate, 3'-diphosphate to yield guanosine 5'-diphosphate, 3'-diphosphate and orthophosphate; from E coli; also hydrolyzes other guanosine 5'-triphosphate derivatives with at least one unsubstituted phosphate group on the 3'-position, but not GTP, ATP or adenosine 5'-triphosphate, 3'-diphosphate Registry number: EC 3.6.1.40 Synonym: guanosine pentaphosphate phosphohydrolase, GTPdp pyrophosphatase, pppgpp 5'-phosphohydrolase, guanosine 5'-triphosphate-3'diphosphate 5'-phosphohydrolase, pppgpp-5'-phosphohydrolase, pppgpp-5'-phosphatase (26 Jun 1999) |
| guanosine 5'-triphosphate 3'-diphosphate pyrophosphorylase | <enzyme> Yields pyrophosphate + pppg Registry number: EC 2.7.7.- Synonym: pppgpp pyrophosphorylase (26 Jun 1999) |
| guanosine triphosphate | A molecule which consists of the nitrogenous base guanine linked to the sugar ribose and which has three phosphate groups attached to the 5th carbom atom of the ribose. GTP is a high-energy compound which serves as an energy source for many biochemical reactions. It is required for the formation of peptide bonds between amino acids during translation and is required for ribonucleic acid synthesis since it is a direct precursor. (09 Oct 1997) |
| guanosine triphosphate binding protein | <protein> A type of protein embedded in the cytoplasmic membrane of the cell which transmits signals from outside the cell (such as from hormones binding to receptors on the outside of the cell) to the inside of the cell, where it causes some sort of biochemical reaction within the cell to the signal (such as the altering of metabolic pathways or gene expression). The process by which the protein does this is unclear but involves exchanging a molecule of GDP for a molecule of GTP. (09 Oct 1997) |
| myo-inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate phosphatase | <enzyme> Neutral pH optimum; magnesium dependent Registry number: EC 3.1.- Synonym: i-p3ase, inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate phosphatase (26 Jun 1999) |
| cytidine 5'-triphosphate | <biochemistry> An ester, at the 5' position, between cytidine and triphosphoric acid. Acronym: CTP (05 Mar 2000) |
| cytidine triphosphate | A molecule which consists of the nitrogenous base cytosine linked to the sugar ribose and which has a chain of three phosphate groups attached to the ribose in a linear fashion. CTP is required for the synthesis of DNA since it is a direct precursor molecule. (09 Oct 1997) |
| xanthosine 5'-triphosphate | Xanthosine with a triphosphoric acid esterified at its 5' position. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleoside triphosphate | A nucleoside in which the H of one of the ribose hydroxyls (usually the 5') is replaced by a triphosphoric group, -PO(OH)-O-PO(OH)-O-PO(OH)2; e.g., adenosine triphosphate. (05 Mar 2000) |
