[EC 6.3.3.2] an enzyme of the ligase class that catalyzes the ATP-dependent formation of 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate from 5-formyltetrahydrofolate (folinic acid). The reaction provides a means of utilization of folinic acid in the absence of dihydrofolate reductase activity. Called also 5,10-methenyltetrahydrofolate synthetase.
