11-cis retinal
a retinal isomer that combines with opsins to form photoreceptive molecules, in the rods combining with scotopsin to form rhodopsin and in the cones combining with photopsins to form several iodopsins. In the presence of light, it is converted to the all-trans isomer.

17-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone
a 21-carbon steroid produced by adrenals, ovaries, testes and placenta. 17 OHP is the metabolite of progesterone and 17-hydroxyprognenolone, and is a precursor to cortisol. (source)

17,20-lyase deficiency
a disorder of steroidogenesis due to deficiency of 17α-hydroxyprogesterone aldolase, an enzyme activity normally catalyzing the conversion of C21 to C9 steroid hormones (androgens and estrogens); the result is a type of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (type V). Males are pseudohermaphroditic and both sexes remain sexually infantile. The enzyme activity is part of the enzyme steroid 17α-monooxygenase; see also 17α-hydroxylase deficiency and see table at hyperplasia.

17-h.
any steroid hydroxylated at carbon 17; some are intermediates in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones and are accumulated and excreted abnormally in various disorders of steroidogenesis. Those with dihydroxyacetone side chains (Porter-Silber chromogens) react positively in the Porter-Silber reaction.
