| 설명 | 뼈에서 생기는 악성종양으로 주로 10~25세사이에 호발한다. 남성에서 여성보다 2배정도 더 많이 발생하며, 뼈의 어느 부위나 발생할 수 있으나 주로 무릅관절 부위, 즉 넙다리뼈 먼뼈몸통끝에 정강뼈몸쪽뼈몸통에 호발한다. 발생빈도는 원발성(뼈에서 바로 발생한 종양을 원발성이라 하고, 다른 곳에서 생긴 종양이 전이되어 뼈의 종양으로 발생한 경우를 전이성이라 한다) 악성뼈종양의 약 20%정도이며, 증상은 통증을 수반하는 종창과 압통이 있다. 진단은 방사선소견과 병리조직학적 소견을 보고 내리며, 치료는 방사선요법, 화학적 요법, 수술적 요법 및 면역요법을 시행한다. 예후는 대개 불량하여 사망율이 높고 대개 1년내에 폐로 전이가 일어난다. |

| 설명 | 미분화 간질세포와 비전형적 풋뼈(callus) 또는 뼈형성을 특징을 하는 악성뼈 종양, 원발인 경우 10~20대에 속발인 경우 고령자에게서 더 많이 발생한다. 조직학적으로 여러 성분이 나타날 수 있는데 미분화섬유모세포가 주성분이면 ‘섬유모세포형’, 미분화연골세포가 주성분이면 연골모세포형 뼈육종으로 그리고 비전형 뼈형성이 주로 보일 때는 뼈모세포형 뼈육종이라 분류한다. 또한 혈관분포가 풍부하면서 해면상 혈관 확장을 보일 때는 모세혈관확장 뼈육종이라 한다. 임상적으로 환부근처의 동통과 압통이 주요 증상이다. 과거에는 5년 생존율이 20%에 불과했으나 최근 치료의 발전으로 60%로 향상되었다. |

| parosteal osteosarcoma |
a variant of osteosarcoma consisting of a slowly growing tumor that arises from the cortex of a bone and grows outward, eventually surrounding the bone; it resembles cancellous bone and is characterized histologically by a fibrous stroma containing bony spicules and trabeculae. It affects adults in the second through fifth decades of life and is less malignant than classical osteosarcoma. Called also juxtacortical o. and parosteal sarcoma.
