| 설명 | 부갑상샘기능항진증(hyperparathyroidism)에서 나타난다. 뼈는 섬유화변화를 일으키며, 염증반응을 보이게 된다. 부갑상샘호르몬은 뼈로부터 칼슘의 분해를 촉진하고, 위장관으로부터 칼슘의 흡수를 촉진하여 결국은 혈중내 칼슘농도를 높이는 역할을 한다. 따라서 뼈는 칼슘이 빠져서 구멍이 나게 되고, 휘어지며, 또한 낭을 형성하기도 한다. 또한 증가한 칼슘은 소변으로 배설되기 위해 콩팥으로 빠져나가다 뭉쳐져서 돌을 형성하기도 한다. 치료는 부갑상샘호르몬에 반대되는 작용을 하는 칼시토닌을 투여하거나 부갑상샘을 절제하여야 한다. |

| 설명 | 뼈에서 생긴 염증이 관절까지 같이 침범하여 염증현상을 일으키는 경우를 말한다. 대개 무릎관절, 엉덩관절에서 잘 일어난다. 원래 뼈의 말단에 가까운 부위에 혈액의 흐름이 늦어지게 되므로 혈액내에 병균이 존재하는 경우 이 부위에 서식하기 쉽다. 따라서 이 부위에 생긴 뼈염(osteitis)은 거리상 관절부위가 가까우므로 관절염이 같이 발생하기가 쉽다. 대개 외상으로 관절근처의 피부감염이 생기게 되고 이는 곧 골관절염으로 이어질 수 있다. 치료는 항생제의 주입이다. 먹는 항생제로는 효과를 보기 힘들며, 반드시 주사용을 사용해야 하며, 오래되어 만성뼈관절염으로 발전할 경우, 관절의 파괴를 가져와 수술을 해야하는 경우도 있다. 특히 호발부위가 인체의 체중을 지탱하는 부위이므로 치료에 만전을 기해야 한다. |

| 설명 | 뼈가 자라도록 하기 위하여 석회화한 연골과 뼈조직을 녹이는 세포로 다핵거대세포이다. 2~100개의 핵을 가지고 있으며 지름은 20~100μm이고 전형적인 것은 뼈파괴세포 자신에 의해 형성된 뼈 표면의 얕은 작은 홈에 존재한다. 뼈흡수면의 파골세포에는 밝은 띠와 파도모양의 가장자리가 관찰되며 파골세포에 의해 분비된 가수분해효소에 의한 유기기질의 소화흡수, 산에 의한 무기질 용해와 흡수에 의하여 뼈흡수가 일어나는 것으로 생각되고 있다. 교정력을 작용시키는 압박쪽에 이 세포가 출현한다. 큰 어금니의 고정능력을 높이거나 보정기관 중의 환원을 방지하기 위해 이 빠파괴세포를 세포자멸사 시키는 기초연구가 진행되고 있다. |

| 설명 | 비교적 희귀한 유전성 전신성 결체조직병으로 인한 골의 취약성으로 다발성골절을 유발한다. 이 병은 중증형과 지연형의 2가지가 있다. 중증형은 선천적으로 발생하여 출생후부터 다발성골절과 사지단축 및 변형이 있으며, 대부분 사산되거나 출생후 수시간내에 사망한다. 지연형은 소아에서 골절이 호발하나 쉽게 치유되며, 때로는 다량의 신생골을 형성하여 부정유합이 흔하다. 골절은 특히 하지에 많이 발생하며 골절유합기간은 정상골과 같다. 다발성골절로 여러 가지 형태의 기형이 생기며 척추측만곡도 동반된다. 또한 청색공막(blue sclera)과 철모를 쓴 머리모양(helmet head)의 이마를 관찰할 수 있다. 특이한 치료법은 없고 경험적인 치료에 그친다. 치료는 골절치료 정도이다. |

| 설명 | 주로 비타민 D가 부족하여 생기는 구루병에서 볼 수 있다. 비타민 D는 장관에서 칼슘의 흡수를 촉진하고 콩팥에서 소변으로 배설되는 칼슘의 양을 감소시켜 혈액내에 칼슘의 양을 증가시키는 역할을 한다. 따라서 이 비타민이 부족할 경우 뼈에 침착될 칼슘의 양이 감소하게 되므로 뼈는 연해지고 잘 부러지기 쉬운 상태가 된다. 치료는 이런 비타민의 복용이나, 혹은 체내에 칼슘을 주입하여 체내칼슘의 양을 증가시키는 것이다. |
