설명   
  차멀미, 배멀미, 비행기멀미, 기차멀미, 우주적응증후군의 형태가 있으며, 반복되는 회전과 직선가속, 감속으로 인한 구역과 구토 등의 증상을 일으킨다. 일차적인 원인은 움직임으로 인한 전정 기관의 과도한 자극에 있으며 개인마다 그 감수성의 차이가 크다.

    급성 방사선 장애 가운데 전신 증상으로서 나타나는 것을 말한다. 즉 피로, 식욕 감퇴, 오심, 구토 등의 증상이 나타난다. 대부분 전신에 피폭한 경우에 생기는데 국소 피폭이라도 양이 많을 때에는 생긴다. 특히 방사선 치료의 경우에도 뇌나 복부에 조사한 경우에 일으키기 쉽다.

<zoology> An excrescence of any form produced on any part of a plant by insects or their larvae. They are most commonly caused by small Hymenoptera and Diptera which puncture the bark and lay their eggs in the wounds. The larvae live within the galls. The galls, or gallnuts, of commerce are produced by insects of the genus Cynips, chiefly on an oak (Quercus infectoria or Lusitanica) of Western Asia and Southern Europe. They contain much tannin, and are used in the manufacture of that article and for making ink and a black dye, as well as in medicine.

Gall's craniology 1. <study> The science of the special functions of the several parts of the brain, or of the supposed connection between the various faculties of the mind and particular organs in the brain.
2. In popular usage, the physiological hypothesis of Gall, that the mental faculties, and traits of character, are shown on the surface of the head or skull; craniology.
Gall marked out on his model of the head the places of twenty-six organs, as round inclosures with vacant interspaces. Spurzheim and Combe divided the whole scalp into oblong and conterminous patches.

crown gall Gall or tumour, found in many dicotyledonous plants, caused by the bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens.

crown gall plasmid A plasmid, or type of circular DNA, found in the bacteria Agrobacterium tumefaciens which infects dicot plants. Part of the plasmid inserts itself into the plant genome and causes tumours to form in the roots or in the stems nearest the roots. The plasmid has been used by geneticists, minus the tumour-causing parts, as a vector towards the genetic engineering of plants.

crown gall tumour A disease which afflicts dicot plants, caused by the bacteria Agrobacterium tumefaciens. The disease causes large tumours to form in the roots or in the stems nearest the roots, deforming the plant along its base (where it meets the ground).

acute African sleeping sickness A disease of humans caused by Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense in eastern Africa from Ethiopia and Uganda south to Zimbabwe; it is clinically similar to Gambian trypanosomiasis but of shorter duration and more acute in form; patients suffer repeated episodes of pyrexia, become anaemic, and die commonly from cardiac failure.
Synonym: acute African sleeping sickness, acute trypanosomiasis, East African sleeping sickness, East African trypanosomiasis.

Symptoms include a continuous dry cough, shortness of breath, poor exercise tolerance, dizziness, headache, sleep difficulty, anorexia, confusion, fatigue and a rapid pulse.
Treatment includes the immediate movement to a lower altitude. Prophylaxis has been accomplished successfully with the use of acetazolamide (Diamox).

african sleeping sickness <infectious disease> A disease affecting humans and other mammals in central Africa that is caused by the parasitic protozoans Trypanosoma brucei gambiense and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense and is transmitted by the tsetse fly.
Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, vomiting, pain in the extremities, lymph gland enlargement, anaemia, depression, fatigue, coma, and eventually death if left untreated. The trypanosome is able to evade the host's immune system by frequently changing the proteins on its outer surface, by which the immune system identifies intruders.
