or just DSM): The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition. This book, published by the American Psychiatric Association, attempts to classify all known psychological disorders according to symptoms. It is generally used by psychiatrists to determine diagnoses of patients, and to determine what does or does not constitute a mental disorder.
