An abnormal mass of tissue not required for the repair of organs, the growth of which exceeds, and is uncoordinated with, that of the normal tissues. Persists in the same excessive manner after cessation of the stimulus which provoked the changes in growth pattern. Neoplasms may be benign or malignant.
